post graduate courses.
Details
of some of it’s courses are given below:
Master
of Arts International Hospitality and Tourism
Leadership
This
exciting and novel programme, which is subject to
validation by a leading British university, can be
completed in one academic year (by full-time
students) or two academic years (by part-time
students) and is primarily aimed at those managers
and aspiring managers who are now ready to move
beyond management to leadership in their industry
and organisation.
Those who join the Alpine Leadership
Programme will study, research and experience
first-hand (for example in the Applied Leadership
module) the 6 M’s of Leadership:
the leader as magician, manager, motivator,
maximalist, moralist and modifier.
Bachelor
of Arts (Honours) International Hospitality and
Tourism Management
Three
Years to a BA(Hons) Degree and Swiss Diploma:
Academic Track
The
3-year International Hospitality and Tourism
Management programme at Alpine covers all the
major theoretical and practical components of a
hotel operation.
It also enables the student to acquire the
business skills necessary to manage a hotel
operation profitably, while at the same time
adhering to world-class standards. The 3-year
programme leads to the award of a British
undergraduate degree, the BA(Hons) International
Hospitality and Tourism Management, together with
the award of the Swiss Diploma in Hotel
Management. Two industry placements of 20 weeks
each in the first two years of study (semesters 1
and 4) are an integral part of the programme.
This degree programme equips graduates with
intellectual and leadership capabilities, which
will allow them to move into a range of
international managerial positions in prestigious
organisations in their chosen sector of the
Hospitality or Tourism Industry.
Four
Years to a BA(Hons) Degree and Swiss Higher
Diploma: Vocational Track
A
more vocationally focused route to the BA(Hons)
degree is also available and allows students to
complete the same International Hospitality and
Tourism programme in four years, allowing for more
applied hotel operations and applied hotel
management theory and practice.
Whereas the management aspects of the
programme are developed using highly advanced
British thinking and practice, the operational and
vocational training parts of the programme are
based on the unique, 100-plus year old tradition
of Swiss hospitality education.
At the end of the third year of the
vocational programme, students receive the Swiss
Higher Diploma in Hotel and Business Management
and this gives them direct entry into the final
year of the BA(Hons) International Hospitality and
Tourism Management course.
BA(Hons)
Culinary Arts Management
Three
Years to a BA(Hons) Culinary Arts Management
This
unique and innovative higher education programme
is designed for future leaders in the culinary
profession. It
is a careful balance of the management and
‘hands-on’ skills required in this challenging
field.
The course will give students a range of
managerial skills to run their own business and
also a high level of practical skills to allow the
restaurateur to provide a unique culinary
experience to their customers.
The two industry placements of 20 weeks
each in the first two years of study are designed
to give students first hand experience and, at the
same time, give them the opportunity to put their
theoretical knowledge into practice.
The final year of study includes the
writing of a dissertation and leads to the award
of a British undergraduate BA(Hons) degree in
Culinary Arts Management.
BTEC/Edexcel
Higher National Diplomas
(2
years, full time) leading
to the BA(Hons) International Hospitality and
Tourism Management
The
UK BTEC Higher National Diploma programmes are
recognised worldwide for their
vocational nature linked to specific
professional requirements and with a strong work-
related ethic.
These qualifications provide a thorough
grounding in the key concepts and practical skills
required in their respective sectors (eg travel
and tourism) and are designed for students who
have already decided that they wish to enter a
particular sector and who have the relevant
academic ability and motivation to achieve.
Some mature students may wish to make the
commitment required by these qualifications to
enter a specialist area in order to enhance their
career prospects, or to progress to a BA(Hons) or
MA course at Alpine Center.
HND diplomates who are not mature students
may progress directly from their chosen BTEC HND
