Student Facilities

Located in Greater London, ISBS has convenient access to all parts of London by underground, by driving or by an excellent bus network. The college is located in a modern building with a computer lab for students and a selective library on campus, along with access to Rayners Library made available for research projects.

ISBS has taken on responsibilities to facilitate the various needs of students as far as possible.
The college takes care to provide a number of facilities and services for the convenience of students. It is actively involved in the following areas:

  • Student Accommodation – The college has arrangements with local landlords and estate agents to offer students a confirmed place to live upon arrival, provided that the college is informed well in time.
  • Airport Welcome – The college can arrange for students to be picked up from the airport and taken to their accommodation. Students must notify the college at least one week in advance of flight details, time and date of arrival.
  • National Insurance Number (N.I.N.) Registration – Full time students from overseas are eligible to work in the U.K. To be able to work in the U.K. as stipulated by the law, students need to register for a National Insurance Number. ISBS helps students understand the process and apply for the N.I.N. on arrival.
  • Opening a Bank Account – Students are advised strongly to open a student bank account straight after arrival to keep money safe. A recent change in banking procedures now requires overseas students to provide address references in the U.K. and back home, along with utility bills in the U.K. for their identification to open an account. A freshly arrived overseas student will not have utility bills or a U.K. driving license, etc., for his/her identification. ISBS acts as guarantor for its students and provides introductory letters addressed to the banks confirming student details.
  • Register with a GP – All students are required by law to register themselves on arrival in the U.K. with a local general practitioner/doctor. Supportive documentation is required by the GPs surgeries to register such students. ISBS provides full support and recommends its students to well established GP practices.
  • ISBS Cyber Zone – Along with IT facilities that may be required to carry out normal student activities, ISBS provides all of its students with a personalized email address with isbs.org.uk domain name. This address comes with a web space so that students may communicate worldwide electronically with the identity of a student at ISBS for research and project work purposes.
  •  Work Placement – Many courses and programs at ISBS may require a student to be attached to a suitable company or financial institute in order to have a working knowledge of his/her course. ISBS provides a full and comprehensive backing to its students for finding such a placement by working with prospective employers.
  • Student Counseling – ISBS has student counselors who give students independent advice. Students can book an appointment with a counselor and have their say in complete confidence, and expect to get the best advice in return. There is no charge for this service and ISBS management encourages students to arrange these meetings on regular basis.
  • Student Mentoring – In addition to student counseling, freshly arriving students are attached (for the first session) with a senior student, preferably from the same course, to be mentored. This is a voluntary service and students may opt not to make use of it.
