Georgian College – Canada

Located in the city of Barrie in central Ontario, Georgian's academic programs give international students the opportunity to work and study in one of best locations in Canada, while getting paid to go to school!

Located close to the city of Toronto, Barrie is a dynamic and growing city conveniently situated in the middle of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. The town’s location offers all the advantages of life in a big city, along with the scenery and safety of a small town.

Georgian offers full-time diploma programs in over 100 different fields – and many of these offer co-op and apprenticeship opportunities.

Georgian College is the largest co-op college across Canada.  All of the college’s co-op programs require that students complete successful co-op work terms in order to graduate. All students must work in their industry of study in order to graduate with their Co-op Diploma/Degree.  As a result, students in a three year co-op program actually complete two years of academic study along with one year work experience before they graduate.  The opportunity to gain industry-related work experience often leads to better job options upon completion of the program.

Depending on their previous experience and academic background, students can opt for any of the three types of study options described below:

  • Diploma – The college offers two- or three-year Diploma Programs that include co-op work experience. These courses present a great opportunity to work and gain valuable international experience while studying.
  • Post-Graduate Certificate Programs – This is a practical option for students who already have a diploma or degree, as well as for those looking for a career change.
Georgian offers a number of Post-Graduate Certificate programs that give students a chance to improve their education and gain paid work experience. The college’s numerous one-year graduate programs are all designed to give diploma or degree graduates further career opportunities in areas of business, community services, health, or technology.
  • Degree – Students can complete two or three years of a four-year program at Georgian College before a direct transfer to a partner university, which will award them a University degree. After four years of study, students have a College diploma, one year of practical work experience, and a University degree.
