The Hospitality
Training Association (HTA) is Queensland’s leading training, employment and
recruitment organization servicing the growing hospitality and tourism
industry. In 1982, five key associations in Queensland’s tourism and
hospitality industries (listed below) came together to establish HTA. Incorporated
as a “not-for-profit” association, HTA initially took on Cookery Apprentices
and placed them in the industry through its network of employers. In 1991, HTA
was awarded a grant from the Australian National Training Authority to set up a
private training facility – Hospitality Training Association Inc. College. HTA
was the first Registered Training Organization (RTO) accredited to deliver
Apprenticeship training and is now the largest employer of Apprentice cooks and
baker pastry cooks in Queensland.
The HTA’s
unique links with the tourism and hospitality industry, which lie at its
foundation, ensure that the college delivers world-class training to its
students along with genuine opportunities for hands-on industry experience.
Students at the college are required to undertake a period of work experience
with HTA’s industry partners; this gives students the opportunity to test their
new skills in the real world. Furthermore, HTA’s commitment to its students goes
beyond training – HTA is South-East Queensland’s leading recruitment and
